Base Volvo C30 spotted in Sweden

George over at Swedespeed posted this shot of a what appears to be a base Volvo C30 in the wild. Well, it's on the verge of being released into the wild anyway. The blue hatchback was spied with two of its siblings in the parking lot at the Volvo delivery center in Gothenborg, Sweden. The wheels look kind of flower-power funky.
The post also passes on a few rumors: the initial run of C30s may be limited to turbocharged FWD models, and all of the early production is slated for the European market. North America is unlikely to see the C30 until the summer of 2007 as a 2008 model.

That car is pure sex! If they release them in AWD in North America, count me in!

I can't beleive Volvo made a car so beautiful. I knew they make luxury cars, but this C30 is so nice.

The wheels look like flowers.
The car itself is smooth, slick, and attractive.

I also heard a few C30 rumors. Right now, I think the consideration is FWD only and turbocharged engine only.

yeah, im with Dr. Woo
get rid of the daisy rims (though they arent the worst ive seen... i think a late 90's neon comes to mind). give it the rims from the s60R.
then its golden.

hehe I like it. If anything though it looks like they slapped the S40 front end on a much smaller car, so the hood looks a bit long and the headlights a bit large (though I think they look a bit large on the S40 as well).
Overall a well executed car though. I'd buy one if I wasn't so happy with my current hatch/wagon.
These are supposed to be like 26-27k base price, right? It does seem a bit steep but I guess compared to the A3 it isn't that bad. I think the A3 styling kills the C30 though.

Sweet! Wish we could have that nice thang. Finally a small car that doesn't look like a box. This car is almost as surprising as the new Hyundai Accent 3 door - in an upper level trim that car was sharp looking - what a surprise for a Hyundai!
Go Volvo! Saab looks absolutely awful compared to what Ford has done with Volvo.

Yes to all the previous comments but like Volkswagen who makes well designed vehicles that rank 37 out of 38 on the JDPower reliable tests. What about build quality and trouble free driving pleasure. I have a sense, like all Ford products this vehicle will come up short.

-If that is what YOUR always going to think, then yes the vehicle will always come up short.

If it's anything as reliable as my S40 and my wife's V50 it will give absolutely excellent service. I keep telling my neighbor, who is a Volvo sales mgr, that I want this car in all wheel drive. I'd really love the euro diesel engine and AWD. If he could promise me that, I'd put down a deposit right now. European delivery anyone???

The sloping rear with the kink kind of reminds me of the AMC pacer...

OMG,
Thank you for saying that!!!! In an eariler post on this car I thought the back looked like a pacer also, with that "all glass" look.
Check it out:

I got nailed to the cross for saying it looked like a Pacer and that it would most likely flop in the USA.

It looks nice! Reminds me of the old Civic SI with a Volvo front. I bet it will sell well once it gets here. Now if only Volvo could do something about their quality problems!

BO-RING... originally (especially in concept form) i loved this car, but now it just looks kinda 'bleh'. the front is just as boring as the s40's (not surprising considering its basically the SAME THING) and it just looks kinda cheap. I would much rather go for an A3.

Whatever FORD has nothing to do with VOLVO except some funding. Ford likes to rip off all the good ideas Volvo comes up with and uses them for ford products. Lets hope its stays the this way or we will have another Jaguar situation.
